Matthew Jump, Solicitor

Matthew joined Breene & Breene in November 2020.  He was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in November 2024.

​

Matthew studied Law at The City Law School, University of London (also known as the Inns of Court School of Law) in the intensive Postgraduate Diploma course, in which he was awarded Commendation.  Matthew also undertook a mini-pupillage at a leading London chambers specialising in financial crime, fraud, regulatory law, and terrorism and was a student member of The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple (barrister’s Inn of Court). 

 

In Australia, Matthew recently graduated from the Law Extension Committee of the University of Sydney / Legal Profession Admission Board Examinations, in which he averaged the highest grade awarded by the Board (Distinction). Matthew ranked first in his cohort in Commercial law and fifth place in Taxation & Revenue law.

 

​Matthew has also completed the first half of the ARITA Advanced Certification programme in restructuring, insolvency and turnaround law. 

 

Matthew’s experience is predominantly in insolvency, corporations, commercial and equity disputes. This experience includes preparing matters for hearing in the High Court of Australia (applications for Special Leave to Appeal and final appeal), the NSW Court of Appeal, the NSW Supreme Court and the Federal Court. Matthew also has experience with civil disputes in the Local and District Courts of NSW and in interstate Courts.

Prior to studying Law, Matthew read History of Art for his Bachelor of Arts degree at the Courtauld Institute, University of London.  In his spare time, Matthew maintains a strong interest in legal history, architecture, art and cricket.
